Penderyn Welsh Whisky - 46%

Gwalia distillery was built in the village of Penderyn and is the only welsh distillery at the moment. The single malt is matured in bourbon barrels and then transferred to Madera drums for a period of finishing.

Brains brewery in Cardiff ferment the wash or beer from which this whisky is distilled.

pallet: lively bourbon and port interweave. ok so it's not a port cask but they're my notes ok? one can still taste the new make spirit a little but its mature for a 5 year old whisky. Don't add water as it brings out a funky chemicals note for me.

Finnish: long and a little biter, like a hoppy beer.

Comments: not bad at all. I'd love to try a 10 year old version of this matured just in bourbon barrels.

Score: 74%
